This would make a great postcard (hint hint)! This style works really well - so you make a series of those? One of your best works so far, in my humble opinion.

I only wonder if we ever get to see a photo of you.

You have to make more of those...Immediately!

I like the outfit she's in already. I mean, think of the impression she'll make at an interview. Unforgettable.

Hey F.E.G.,

We have IKEA in Germany, too (blahblah we have cars we have beer we have trees we have Deutsche Mark - erm, no, now we only have the Euro), and ever since a new one opened right next to a subway station we´re there every once in a while. Sweden is going to take over the furniture market.

Do you also have H&M? A swedish clothing shop chain? Dirt-cheap clothes while having really good looking stuff. Without Ikea and H&M, I would have even more "negative money".

Have fun in Montreal!

Yeah, I´ve heard about Canadians patriotism, I guess that comes from constant jokes US people make (like in the Simpsons, "What? We should leave the US to visit US junior?"), so in the same way Canadians mock the USA. I guess this all would not exist if Canada and the US wouldn´t be neighbours. I guess they benefit from each other more than they would admit, so it´s this typical love/hate thing.

Well, I guess it´s a good thing in some parts if you like the place you live - I´ve heard "bah bah I want to leave germany everybody is so grumpy" more than once (usually by people who are grumpy themselfes), and one half of me wants to move away someday, while I feel somehow rooted in my immediate surroundings and have the opinion that moving geographically isn´t helping if you are not trying to improve yourself; so this is why I cultivate this whole blogger-forum-internet thing so much, because it helps me think in a larger scale while not even have to move my butt around. Virtual tourism, if you like. I am so glad the internet makes things like this possible.

Oh, and I hope you take some pictures there!

Cheers, Fred

PS. "Fat emo guy" lameass joke is now officially buried! ;)

Do you really wear those Doctor Seuss gloves??? :D I agree with Roz- the original outfit works for me too

Jeannetto said...

Those gloves are actually only a dream. I saw them while I was temping at Barney`s, but they far exceeded my glove budget for this year. My glove budget being $0 (they were $40).

You guys have no idea how this paper doll thing has snowballed. I don`t have a scanner here to show you... But you must know that at this very moment I am awaiting the arrival of two men with some cranberry juice & limes, and some underwear photos are about to be taken.

Sorry, just to add stuff about your Canada and People-loving-where-they-come-from discussion (Jeannette, you should seriously have a message board associated with your sketchblog), i think canadian patriotism is somewhat different than US patriotism. I'm not sure of the statistics, but many Americans have never left their region let alone their country.

In contrast a higher proportion of Canadians have been to the United States. With that to compare with, how can a Canadian not think their country is better.

Even you, Jeannette, would be considered a Canadian patriot if you were not American.

Oh. and why don't you meet me on the 12th floor GIS lab when you wake up today. We could scan some sketches in.

I could just tell you this, as you are sleeping in my bed right now... but it's more fun to send you messages through your sketchblog.

Hey Jeanette, thanks for the comments! I am pretty surprised on how much people liked this one, but to be honest, it´s one of the more satisfiying pieces I´ve done so far - this one made "click" as I felt proceeding to the NEXT LEVEL. WHOA DUDE! ;)

As for the insane drawing machine robot, well, I usually just mess around the whole day playing videogames, surfing the web or the like, and then really go at it at nighttime. This one for instance took from 1:30 am to 5:00 am. Quite extreme example and certainly not good sleeping habits, but I get my engines warm over the whole day and like to fall into the bed exhausted. I couldn´t do one picture in the morning and then lay down for the rest of the day... so while I do pretty much drawing, I have a lot of room to improve.

On the other hand, I draw directly and with only a very fuzzy concept of what to do - on this one I had only "many masked heads" and "long thin body" in mind. I just can´t work with doing composition sketches and layouts before... I throw it out, then scan it and colour without any break and voila. This is the reason why I simply can´t tell what´s going on in my own pictures - because most of the time I JUST DON´T KNOW. It´s a extremely low-cost, time-saving procedure and a lot of fun. On the other hand, I don´t have a real method, and my conceptual thinking is pretty bad, so I simply throw a lot of cryptic crap on it and that seems to work somehow.

Uuuh, long post. Can´t wait for you posting new work. Hope you made some photos up there!

Quadruple cheers with a couple of beers,

Fred

PS. Jon is right on that messageboard subject!

Well.. what can I add to Fred's "novel" and Jon's patritism comments but... love the paper doll thing! :)

I think we should ALL do one of our selves.. then come up with different clothing ideas to put on ourselves(as craaaazy as we want to be)

But first.. let me quit my day job so i have time for this fun.

Ariel

PS- Thanx for visiting my site BTW :) I love hearing from people..
And i hope montreal was fun! It certainly is a "fun" city.

I never played with paper dolls...well actually I would make super hero paper dolls and then I would quickly change them from one identity to another. Oh the power!

Nice one Jeannette! Are these going to be available on the back of cereal boxes?
