One Year, Two Hundred Posts...

Jeannette Langmead Illustrator Ruin Everything Comic

...and this is the comic Ive always wanted to make.

Check it out in the September issue of The Agenda, a Providence-based newspaper.

I cant believe I've been sitting in front of this glowing box for 365 days straight. On this occasion (and since it's my last post) Id like to show Im not completely selfish and give some thank-yous: First Id like to thank Liz, who has played a large roll in my post-college drawing career. She drags me out of the house and sticks markers in my hands. Also, she's taught me a quality piece need not take 20 hours to produce. And I'll swallow my pride and thank Illustration Friday, because Ive found some neat folk through it. But I wont thank God, because he didnt help at all.

And just kidding, it's not my last post.

Interesting discovery: My blog's one year anniversary falls on Friday the 13th. Excellent.

this is GREAT! and i feel privledged to have seen it first (or second , if you count you). your two different drawing styles are very cool. the upper right corner drawing is especially sweet.

This is just a fabulous comic. I'm jealous. I really like the way you lay your pages out.

200 posts in a year and a Firday the 13th anniversary. Did you plan that?

Frederik Jurk said...

Dear Jeannette-sama,

Really, that realistic look in your comics is awesome surpremo. I also looked at your chest in the lower half of the page and felt bad for doing that. But it´s the hormones, you know.

Well, soon you´re going to be a GAIJIN (look that up in Wikipedia!), and after that you´ll be some sort of new self or reborn or stuff like that. And after that you should move into a big city. (I don´t really know where you live right now, but strip malls don´t indicate the most advantgarde lifestyle).

Trust me; if I´d be living in the less urban regions of germany I´d be dead by now.

Now I´ll write some more to make the post longer.

Still doing that. It looks like if I had something more to say. Maybe I should use exclamation marks!!! Yes! Or question marks?

Seriously, you should keep on DRAWING HARD and act as if this is THE reason you came on earth. At least art loves you back. Erm, in a way. If you don´t beat your pencils, at least. Also, I think you´re kinda hot. There, I´ve said it. Okay, maybe you have a weird voice or stupid body language, but come one, there must be someone for you out there.

Your Federigo-san

Frederik Jurk said...

Oh, and this "we are all machines and little atoms make us feel the concept we claim to be >>love<<" is nihilistic crap. I mean yeah, of course we´re all meat bags filled with hormones and don´t have much control over ourselves, but knowning that and thinking this on a regular basis isn´t helping.

I mean, I don´t believe in God either, but knowing that all is based on little atoms and following the rules of nature is something pretty comforting to me.

(*Punching myself in the throat for telling you what to think*)

Frederik Jurk said...

PPS. Celibacy is the sissy weakling way out and not a solution to the problem we all have with love at all. I prefer letting my feelings smack me all around.

Frederik Jurk said...

PPPS. I wrote "advantgarde" and "come one", which makes me looks stupid, but now that I post AGAIN just to correct that it makes me look like some anal retentive asshole.

WE BLOGGERS HAVE SERIOUS PROBLEMS!!!

you are creeping into my heart girl. happy one year, and keep it up, when you visit london, come and stay, think i was lot like you in my twenties. you rock girl(do people still say that these days?)

Jeannetto said...

BYOT, I planned the 200 posts/one year thing. But the Friday the 13th was an added bonus.

Fred, dont worry about arguing with the text in my comic. It's all sarcastic and half truths, if I really believed that stuff would I be getting ready to go out and get my heart smashed again?

Steve's mom, I plan on moving in with you guys. It'll be great.

Your comic is fantastic! I especially love the way the drawings and the words fit so well together. I really like your style!

Congrats on your one year anniversary.

No really, your clarity is almost Zen-like.

In a Jeannette kind of way.

The Tao of Jeannette.

so, you really don't think we have souls? i don't know if there's a god or not, but i do think we continue on in some form. and that makes us not just 'atoms'.

congrats on the year anniversary.

This may all be true. But it still seems (IMHO) that you've got extremely nice tits and can draw veryveryveryveryveryveryfucking well.

But swearing oneself to celibacy is always a great thing to do.

Haven't you seen the dumbass movie about this very theme?! The day after you do it, you'll open your door to find 25 studs lining the path to the garden gate, one lying next to the other, moaning and groaning your name in various states of erect-ness, moaning your name.

Happened to me just the other day.

This is awesome, just a superb cap on a successful year. Congratulations, and I hope you'll be continuing!!

Hello! Thanks for your comment. Your drawings are really great!

Willie Baronet said...

You are still my hero, even though I didn't make your "some neat folks" list. Sigh.

Adam Borg said...

oh Jeanette, you are one of the coolest artists I have had the change to meet on the web, you totally inspire me, your art work pretty much rocks.

Steve said...

Pretty much?

Isn't that another way of saying 'not really'.

Dang these darn Americanisms!

Dan Nolan said...

Nice work. I've always thought that a certain amount of self-loathing is common courtesy in modern society. The absence of it is just plain rude.

Brine Blank said...

I do like the framing/composition and your illustrative work here...

Ammon said...

I really like these scenes that you are illustrating. Wonderful work.

Okay, that hurt a bit to read, but that's because it's not far from the truth. It makes me wonder if a healthy obsession exists in this world. Dwelling on any alternative seems to get tiresome after a while so are the alternative to dwelling a possible answer?
